Coastal Ballet's Upper Division dancers are learning more complex steps such as multiple turns, batterie, and grand allegro. The exercises are performed at a more rapid tempo, and dance sequences are longer building stamina and strength.
Upper Division students are also on pointe or almost on pointe during this time. As the students progress in talent, their individual requirements become more exacting. Variations and pointe work are added to their curriculum.
These skills are taught in order to finish the student and allow them to program to professional or college programs.
Lower Division
Ages 7 - 12
Coastal Ballet's Lower Division program consists of the correct placement of body, feet, head, and arms, the study of basic positions, and the elementary movements stemming from them. Correct articulation of techniques and development of music and movement are emphasized.
As the dancers progress through our levels, emphasis is placed on completing the students knowledge of all of the academic technical skills.

For our youngest students, the studio is a wondrous place. Pre-ballet is a time for our dancers to explore, create, and express themselves through movement.
Coastal Ballet specializes in "brain dance" - a series of natural developmental patterns used during the first years of life. These patterns encourage a neurological boost.
Our Young Dancers are provided the opportunity to engage the everyday activities of running, walking and spinning while using their whole bodies. These natural actions are the starting point of dance.
Coastal Ballet offers opportunities for younger students from it's affiliated Academy to dance in Seasonal productions and The Nutcracker.
