Peter Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. He performs over 80 concerts a year, and his recordings on the Centaur Records and Towerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed.
Peter will offer two audience friendly, solo recitals. The first will include repertoire that runs the gamut from the Baroque Period through the 20th Century, and the second will be an all-Bach recital.
The first recital program, on Saturday evening, features the Bach Chaconne, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Tárrega’s Recuerdos de la Alhambra, which is a favorite among audiences, Giuliani’s Variations on a Theme by Handel, Caprice No. 24 by Paganini, Four Preludes by Mexican composer Manuel Ponce, two works by the Polish composer Alexander Tansman and works by Santiago de Murcia and Domenico Scarlatti.
In addition, Peter will perform three piano pieces by Edvard Grieg where he himself wrote the transcriptions. They are part of an all-Grieg album which was released on Centaur Records in 2014.
The concert will culminate with Isaac Albeniz’s Rumores de la Caleta, one of the most exciting Spanish works in the classical guitar repertoire.
The all-Bach recital, taking place Sunday afternoon, will include Lute Suites Nos. 1 and 3, the Chaconne
as well as Prelude from Cello Suite No. 1, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring and Gavotte and Rondo.
His interests outside of music include gardening, running, bike riding and fountain pens. An avid reader, he prefers the works of Cervantes, Proust, Faulkner and Balzac.
